The Postnational Aspirations of European Law: Reflections on Legal Form and Constitutional Hope
Paul Linden-Retek is an Associate Professor of Law and Co-director of Buffalo Human Rights Center at the University at Buffalo. He is the author of ‘Postnational Constitutionalism: Europe and the Time of Law’ (Oxford University Press 2023), which reimagines the form and emancipatory aspirations of constitutional law in the project of European integration. His current research examines the externalization of border control policy by the Global North and its implications not only for the protection of individual human rights but also for the legitimacy of state power and international legal order.
The seminar starts at 12.15, respecting an academic quarter, and involves 20-30 minutes of presentation, followed by 15-30 minutes of discussion. Please let us know if you plan to join the event online.
