An important task for the centre is to initiate multidisciplinary research programs. Here you can read about on-going research conducted or co-financed by the Centre for European Studies, and about international research networks which CFE coordinates or participate in.

CFE Memory Studies Research Program "Whose Memory? Which Future?"
Since 2007 the centre has focused on a research program in Memory Studies that initially focused on conflicts in connection with memories of expulsions and genocides of populations groups in 20th century Europe. However, the scope of the program has come to include a wider set of themes, such as memories of wars and of life under authoritarian regimes. An important focus of the program is the uses of memory for political mobilisation since the 1980s.
The program involves researchers from various countries and disciplines mainly from the Humanitarian and Social Sciences. Within the program the centre is continuously organising conferences, seminars and lectures, as well as initiating project applications and conducting, co-financing and hosting research projects.
